Cookie Policy
This page describes the cookies and comparable technologies in use on supercooking.net, what each group is there to do, and how to switch off the optional ones. It complements the Privacy Policy, which deals with personal information as a whole. Last updated September 2026.
The Technologies Involved
A cookie is a small text file that a site asks your browser to store and return on later requests. It is how a site recognizes the same browser from one page to the next. A cookie cannot read your files, cannot see other applications and cannot run code.
Two neighbouring technologies also appear. Local storage keeps information in the browser until it is cleared and is often used instead of a cookie for preferences. Pixels are tiny image or script requests that report that a page or an advert has loaded.
Ours Versus Third-Party
First-party cookies come from supercooking.net and amount to two things: what the caching layer needs in order to serve a page, and the stored record of your cookie decision. There is nothing else of ours. Third-party cookies come from other companies whose code runs on the page, chiefly the advertising partners whose spending pays for the publication. We control whether that code loads at all; we do not control the systems behind it.
Lifetimes
Session cookies are discarded when the browser closes. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them. On this site persistent lifetimes run from hours or days for the caching cookies up to two years for advertising and for the stored record of your consent choice.
What Each Category Does
A consent tool sorts cookies into four groups. Two of them are populated here and two are empty. The empty ones are described as well, so that nothing is left to assumption.
Strictly Necessary
These cannot be switched off in the consent tool because the site does not work without them. They handle security, load distribution, protection against automated abuse, and the record of the consent decision you made, which we are required to retain in order to demonstrate it.
Preferences
Empty. No language choice, interface setting or dismissed notice is kept. The only thing that carries from one visit to the next is your cookie decision, and that belongs to the strictly necessary group above.
Measurement
Also empty. No cookie on this site counts readers. There is no analytics script on the pages, and nothing measures how long you keep a recipe open, how far down it you go, or where you click. What we know about readership is how many times an address was requested, and that comes from the server access log rather than from a cookie.
Advertising
Set by our advertising partners. They decide which advert to serve, stop the same advert repeating without limit, verify that it was actually visible on screen, and identify invalid or automated traffic. Where you have consented, they additionally use interest categories inferred from browsing behavior to choose what appears.
Switching this category off does not remove advertising. It becomes contextual, chosen from the subject of the page in front of you rather than from anything inferred about you.
Consent and How to Change It
A consent banner appears on your first visit, provided by InMobi Choice under the IAB Europe Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF v2.3), and no advertising code runs until you answer it. Your answer can be revised at any time through the consent link in the footer of every page.
Withdrawing consent halts further processing in that category. Cookies already stored still need clearing in the browser, which is a step no site can perform on your behalf. Because the record is kept per browser and per device, the choice has to be made again on another device and after you clear your cookies.
Where a browser transmits the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of advertising and personalization for that browser, with nothing more required from you.
Controlling Cookies in the Browser
Every current browser lets you inspect and delete stored cookies, block third-party cookies and clear everything on exit. The controls sit under privacy or site settings in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Opera, and under site permissions on phones and tablets.
Blocking everything, strictly necessary cookies included, changes how this and nearly every other site behaves. The most obvious symptom is the consent banner returning on every page, since the record of your decision has nowhere to live.
Cross-Industry Opt-Outs
These programmes register advertising opt-outs with many companies at once:
- YourAdChoices, operated by the Digital Advertising Alliance.
- The Network Advertising Initiative opt-out.
- Your Online Choices, for readers in Europe.
They are themselves cookie-based, so clearing your cookies also clears the opt-outs they set.
The Current Partner List
Because advertising here is sold programmatically, the set of participating technology partners shifts over time. The current list, with the purposes each declares and a link to its own policy, sits inside the consent tool in the footer. We keep it there rather than copying it onto this page so that what you read is accurate on the day you read it.
Updates
This page is revised whenever the technologies on the site change, and the date at the top moves with it. Material changes to the advertising category prompt a fresh consent request. Questions go to [email protected].
